The St Andrews Day Rally Committee exists to promote St Andrews Day and raise the national awareness of our patron saint and the saltire, otherwise known as the St Andrews Cross.
By setting aside this day for celebration of our patron saint, we believe we are celebrating the values that are symbolised by our saint and our flag.
As a committee, we believe that St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland and the St Andrews Cross is the flag of Scotland.
We want to celebrate the fact that Scotland has attracted people from all over the globe with different cultures and different beliefs and wish to celebrate the fact that they have chosen Scotland to settle along with those who have lived here for generations.
For hundreds of years Scots have left these shores to settle in other lands and have been welcomed. We want to welcome those who come to our land to seek a better way of life and want to settle and contribute to our society making Scotland a better country.
We believe in creating a culture of unity under the patron saint and the saltire yet understanding and learning about the other cultures that are alive in Scotland.
It is the aim of the St Andrews Day Rally Committee to promote the day and convince the government and the people of Scotland that the 30th November should be a holiday and set aside for the country to reflect on the values of being Scottish, of working in Scotland and contributing to Scottish nation.
Under the uniting banner of the Saltire, we want to unite and build our national character with all those who live here and fight against prejudice and bigotry, and the things that divide our nation and make us weaker.
We want to promote tolerance of religion, colour, creed, political beliefs, nationality under the banner of the Saltire. the Scottish people, and the rebirth of a strong, united, Independent Scotland.
We want to work with other cultural groups to ensure that as Scots we are aware of the wonderful place Scotland is with its cultural diversity due to the welcoming nature and spirit.
We are a voluntary organisation motivated by the need to promote a day that should be set aside for Scotland.
